about Carla

Carla Blumenthal

Since I was young, I have loved reading, writing and speaking. I recently became interested in how people form relationships and how the Internet is changing those relationships, and with it, the world. Perhaps this is what fuels my love (obsession) for people watching, big cities, and coffee shops (all both individually and separate).

In February 2008, during my senior year at James Madison University, I co-founded the blog Life Before Noon, where I wrote about Generation Y, personal development and social media. Life Before Noon was named a top Generation Y blog by Read Write Web and is syndicated on Brazen Careerist, a career site for young professionals. I have spoken to college audiences, including MIT, about the importance of blogging in personal and professional development. I currently write about social media and marketing at the Lost Jacket and am a contributor at Gals’ Guide.

I currently am an Account Executive at Mr Youth in New York City, where I create and manage online word of mouth campaigns. My past work experiences include internships at SocialSphere Strategies, PepsiCo, and Nautica. During the summer of 2006, I studied abroad in Antwerp, Belgium where I took marketing classes and traveled throughout Europe.

I hold a B.A. in Communications from James Madison University and an M.A. from Emerson College's Global Marketing Communication program. I hope to build a career that combines my passions, talents and love for social media, traveling, and connecting people.
